Thai Airways suspends operation to Moscow from 29 March 2015 until further notice
Thai Airways International announced about temporary suspension of flight operation to Moscow from 29th March, 2015 until further notice.
This decision has been made due to the several reasons. Thai Airways has been suffering from financial losses and according to the recovering plan has to stop operation for unprofitable routes. Moscow has been chosen among others as Madrid and Johannesburg. Current economy slowdown in Russia, national currency devaluation provoked decrease of buying power that results in significant decline of the demand for travel to Thailand. Unfortunately prognosis for year 2015 does not promise immediate recovery for Russian economy.
At the same time Russian market producing more than 1.5 million visitors to Thailand per year and ranked to be third in volume among other countries, remains on the list of the strategic destinations for Thai Airways International. So, Thai Airways will consider reinstatement of the flights to Moscow once the economic situation in Russia is getting better as well as airline’s financial performance improves.
Until then, those passengers who already bought tickets to fly after 28th of March will be offered alternative routing and dates of travel if suitable for passenger’s plans, otherwise full refund will be given.
